No, I won't wish you 'Happy Women's Day'. Because honestly, we don't mean it or precisely our words don't reflect our actions. There's tremendous amount of hypocrisy involved in the term 'Happy Women's Day', it is like an Oxymoron to be brutally honest.
We are living in a country where on an average 6 rapes & 15 molestations are committed each day. According to the statistics of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 34,651 rape cases were reported in India in 2015. And the most astounding fact is that among these, in more that 33,000 cases the offenders were found to be acquainted with the victims. Madhya Pradesh & Delhi are leading the infamous list among the states and union territories respectively. The victims are from all age groups, right from below six years to above sixty years. Just imagine the level of perverted mentality.
If you follow newspaper/news channels daily then the most common news you'll find everyday is RAPE. RAPE of a minor, RAPE of a school girl, RAPE of a nun etc etc. A few days back there was a news that a 11 month old girl was raped, THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! Honestly don't know what is inside these people's head who commit such heinous crimes. It is very shameful to even think that in 2017 we still need to make a 2hour long feature film to make our people understand the significance of 'NO MEANS NO.'
What's the point of sharing those long quotes on Facebook about how women should be respected, how beautiful they are, their sacrifices etc when you yourself at the end of the day call your girlfriend a 'slut' because it is too hard for your fragile male ego to digest that she doesn't love you anymore or she has other priorities rather than just being 'In A Relationship.'
So getting back to where it all started, please don't wish our women 'Happy Women's Day'. Instead make a promise to yourself that being a Man you'll do your bit to maintain and save the dignity and divinity of Women around you, be it your mother, wife, daughter or that old unknown lady you meet everyday in the crowded metro. Please make sure that your Facebook posts or your words about Women reflect your actions, not only on March 8 but throughout the year.
