FILM
: JAB HARRY MET SEJAL
CAST : SHAH
RUKH KHAN
ANUSHKA SHARMA
DIRECTED BY:
IMTIAZ ALI
Imtiaz Ali had been
an all time favourite for me especially after films like ‘ROCKSTAR’, ‘TAMASHA’,
‘JAB WE MET’, hopes had been high. But ‘JAB HARRY MET SEJAL’ is a very very
disappointing film on the director’s part with a very weak script and
absolutely NO story line. There is absolutely no complaints on the acting part
as both of the leads are more than established actors but what roles were they exactly
playing is a little confusing! As an
audience I did lose track at all times as to what was the whole movie about? It
would not be very wrong if I said that it was a pain to sit in the theatre and
watch the whole movie.
The movie starts with
Sejal ( Anushka Sharma) in search of her engagement ring which she was sure to
have lost on the foreign trip she had come on with her family. And Harry (Shah
Rukh Khan) was her tour guide and is almost forced and dragged by her to help
her in her search for her ring and she even agrees to pay him for his service.
So the search begins and they start re-visiting every city she had been to, on
her tour. On this journey there are many pointless songs and Harry becoming the
hopeless romantic falling for Sejal even though he had been tagged as womaniser
before. Amidst all the not so adventurous things Harry and Sejal gets kidnapped
by an illegal immigrant who is also a criminal and apparently speaks Bengali.
Here, Sejal discovers that the ring was in her purse itself for all this time
but hides the truth because and obviously she had started feeling for her tour
guide.
After a night of
facing the truth almost, in between the romantics Sejal decides to go to the
city of Frankfurt which is also ‘home’ to Harry and attend his friend’s
wedding. So, immediately after the ceremony comes the moment of truth when
Sejal has to leave and asks her tour guide to make the arrangements for her.
Now, after she leaves
Harry is all but a disturbed, heart broken guy who has absolutely no clue of
what he was doing. So, he decides to travel to India to attend his beloved’s
wedding and with some expectations that he might be able to tell her the truth
about his feelings after all. After reaching the venue of the wedding he is
shocked to see that Sejal’s wedding had been cancelled. He finds Sejal in the
lawn of the same venue and they open up their hearts to each other, they kiss
and then live happily ever after.
Apart from the funny
accent of Anushka Sharma trying to be a Gujarati, the whole movie is
Disastorous!
A 1.5 on 10 thats
all. A very below par film.
