We have all been mesmerised by her in "Rosogolla", she is currently on cloud nine with the enormous amount of praise she's getting for the portrayal of Khidordmini Devi in Rosogolla. But how is Abantika Biswas in real life. Atpoure tries to explore the off screen side of Khirodmoni Devi.
Question: So how did this happen? How did you manage to get the role of Khirodmoni Debi of 'Rosogolla'?
Abantika: Well, it has been more than 2 years of journey with Rosogolla. There was a whatsapp group where these audition updates were given on a daily basis, so from there i got to know about a certain audition & my mother knew the person who was associated with the audition. But he said that it's not of my age but my mother still insisted him. So after that he finally gave the number of Pavel Da(director) & since then i gave atleast 8-9 auditions, faced rejections too but finally got the role.
Q: How has life changed since Rosogolla happened? How're you taking the praises, criticisms & everything that is coming in your way? Has it changed you?
Abantika: (Laughs) No, no life has not changed as such! My mom still nags me to study everyday! Jokes apart, people do recognise me nowadays in public transport, some of them even ask 'Tumi Rosogolla?'. People have really liked the film, i am getting a lot of appreciation & love from the audience, and i think team Rosogolla deserves that because of the immense we had done for the past two years. Hopefully audience will keep loving us this way & i personally will try to live up to their expectations.
Q: So will you do content wise film from now? Or you want to explore other genres as well?
Abantika: I personally feel that right now content is the king! When i watch a movie i always look for good content. But i do want to explore but good content will always be a priority.
Q: How're you juggling with studies & film career simultaneously? Do you feel tensed sometimes or you're okay with the pressure?
Abantika: Well Rosogolla shoot & my ISC was running parallely. I didn't find any difficulty to be honest, i prioritise my work and do it accordingly.
Q: Well, deviating a bit from serious talks, the audience doesn't really know you as a person off screen. What's your relationship status? Are you single & want to concentrate only on academics & work?
Abantika: Well, right now I am single & it's not that i only want to concentrate on academics & work but to be honest i am in search of the right person, the day I'll get him, I will surely give it a thought. (Laughs out loud)
Q: What's your favourite place in Kolkata? Where do you go to unwind yourself from daily mundane life?
Abantika: Right now my favorite place is Princep Ghat. I love to explore Calcutta by walking, not by any transport. I love to roam around the city, exploring different places. Another special place is Howrah Bridge. I sit in the stairs of Princep & watch Howrah Bridge. Even the lanes around Maidan, Victoria & Esplanade amazes me a lot. I love these places, i love this city. And i also have a dream of roaming around this city in a bike, i love bikes & one day i want to explore my favorite places in the City of Joy with my bike.
Q: Will you work in a serial if you get a good role?
Abantika: To be very honest, right now I don't want to get into serials right now as I have my Class XII board examinations next year. Moreover, the work load in serial is much higher compared to films so right now no serials.
