Life is a roller coaster ride. If it isn't then you are not living it well. There are times when we are thrown down the stairs of life. We roll down, get injuries but all that matters is how we get back on our feet. Today, let us know one such person who made it in life even after falling down badly. She picked her up and came back strong. She is 'Monica Leu', the don of Chinatown, Kolkata.
In Kolkata's china town, Monica is a well known personality. People, men and women alike, hold her in high regards. It's not because of how much she has earned but because how she fought in her life. Starting with a small restaurant in Chinatown, Kolkata, she now has 5 restaurants big and running successfully in Kolkata. She opened her first restaurant called 'Kim Lin' in 1991. Soon she faced threats from a group of bad people forcing her to feed them for free or they will stop her business. But this is not the first struggle and obstacle she faced. In 1962, when India was in war with China, all the Chinese people in Kolkata were deported to a camp in Rajasthan. Monica also faced it and was in the camp for 5 years until they were allowed to comeback to Kolkata by the orders of Government of India.
Starting with selling momos on the streets, slowly by dodging and tackling all obstacles she and her family, came into the restaurant business. Now their business has reached heights. Her restaurants are: Tangra Beijing, Kim Lin, Tung Fong and Mandarin in Sarat Bose Road and Lake avenue.
